Juried Writing Competition
The 2009 Juried Writing Competition is open to writers in the following genres: poetry, fiction, and creative non-ficiton. The winner of each genre will have their piece(s) published in the Encounter 09 program book and will have the opportunity to present/read their work.
Eligibility
Application is open to all artits. Registration and attendance at Encounter 09 is mandatory for all winners. Previous winners are eligible.Application
To apply, download the application and follow all instructions. Incomplete or incorrectly submitted applications will not be considered.
The application deadline is Monday, January 26, 2009. Submissions received after this date will not be considered.
Encounter 09 Juried Writing Competition Application
Review
All submissions will be reviewed by an anonymous panel of industry professionals based on the quality of submitted work samples and supporting materials. Notifications will be made by Monday, February 9, 2009. Panelist comments may be made available to applicants after the conference.Requirements
- Application form must be filled out correctly and completely.
- Entries may relate to the theme, but selections will not be limited by adherence to the theme.
- Poetry: submit no more than three works of up to 40 lines each in any style.
- Fiction: submit one work or an excerpt of a work not to exceed 6,000 words.
- Creative Non-fiction: submit an essay or excerpt from a larger work not to exceed 6,000 words.
